Our 30th Year in Business – Where Are the Cake and Balloons?
With the start of our 30th year in business, we have seen so much happen in the Workers Comp industry that makes the trip worth it. Many times, we have been told to self-promote at every company anniversary by publishing “our whatever year” in business. We tried to do that every decade at the most.
With these two milestones accomplished, I thought it was time to toot our own horn a little, even though that is not what we are about overall.
J&L Insurance Consultants Inc. started at a kitchen table in 1996 with an idea to help employers with their Workers Comp claim concerns that expanded to consulting on all facets of Workers Comp, including becoming a sought-after expert witness. With a desktop computer and an idea, along with the start a corporation in one day advertisement from an airline magazine, we were off and running. Our 30th year in business seemed impossible when we started in 1996.
The Blog Turns 20 – Obsession to A Source of Information
The obsession was an accident. I thought that posts were required daily in 2002. Even though the blog turns 20, the idea to turn it from a marketing machine into a source of information for everyone was one of the better decisions made early on in the process.
Starting as a Blogger Blog, converting it to a WordPress website long ago was a nightmare that required multiple consultants and over a decade to fix. The effects are still felt today. The main part was making the website look decent. The great info was still there. The blog turning 20 was, to say at least, challenging to make it work and look decent.
The one goal was to pay back the Workers Comp community for providing great collaborations, friendships, and colleagues that expanded worldwide. I could go on about how great and wonderful we are, but that was never the goal of this website or blog.
The great and wonderful part of our 30th year in business and the blog turning 20 is the people we have met in person and online.
