NCCI Most Reclassified Class Codes 2022

Last year, the NCCI Most Reclassified Class Codes for 2021 were covered in this article.

If you wish to read the complete NCCI article with great explanations – especially if your worker’s comp class codes are listed in the infographics below – click here

Instead of having to flip between screens,  the most reclassified class codes from last year’s article are below for comparison.  The only difference is the #9 and #10 governing class codes.  Trucking 7219 moved up one place in the rankings from #10 to #9 and College – Professional Employees 8868 fell off the list.

The newest NCCI most reclassified class code Janitorial Servies by Contractors 9014 appeared as #8 on the list.  I will save you from having to read text when you can look below to see what each Classification Code was changed to in each ranking.

Class Code 8810 will likely always be the #1 reclassified code. The code usually has the lowest rates.  One thing that I wanted to point out is the class codes referred to here are Governing Class Codes

Somewhat ironically, Insurance Carriers 8723 was where most of the reclassifications occurred for both years.  Let us not forget about the 8742 Class code either.

Reassignment to Code 8723

The below passage came from the article as to why 8810/8742 was changed so often for insurance companies.

One of the main reasons for the frequent reassignment of employers from Code 8810 or Code 8742 to Code 8723 is changes in the classification system. Specifically, Item B-1419–Revisions to Basic Manual Classifications and Appendix E–Classifications by Hazard Group established Code 8723 for insurance companies in 2012, and since then Code 8810 and Code 8742 have remained in our top reclassified codes year after year. Prior to the establishment of Code 8723 for insurance companies, Code 8810 and Code 8742 were typically assigned to these operations.
