WCIRB and CA Ombudsman – California Workers Comp Insurance Help
Two free services that I have used for California Workers Comp Insurance Help in the past are worth contacting if you ever need Workers Comp insurance assistance. I have used both with great success over the years. I recommend them heavily if you ever have questions. You can also email me at [email protected] or look over our 3,000 online articles. in the J&L website. For a copy of yesterday’s presentation slides, use the following link.

California Workers Comp Insurance Assistance Webinar
Yesterday, I attended a webinar presented by the WCIRB (Workers Comp Insurance Rating Bureau). The WCIRB operates similarly with a few differences than the NCCI. The WCIRB promulgates (fancy term for calculates) Workers Comp insurance X-Mods for employers specific to California. The webinar on CA Workers Comp Insurance help has not been posted yet by the WCIRB. The slide from the webinar can be found at the above link.
I will let you know when the video is posted. As a shortcut, you can download the slides here from the J&L website. One of the better slides from yesterday’s webinar was the dispute process.

An associated video can be found here if you have a dispute with any type of Workers Comp coverage. The video is only 3 minutes long. The WCIRB usually keeps many help videos short and to the point. Thanks for the brevity.
If an employer thinks that they “hit the wall” and cannot go any further with a valid question or dispute, Workers Comp insurance assistance does not stop with the WCIRB or the insurance carrier. The Ombudsman (Ombudsperson?) can be a great place to find additional help.

I have worked with them in the past – see the old post here. The policyholder Ombudsman was helpful to a point when a construction company client of J&L’s experienced the WC wall, so to speak.
Recommendation
If your company has any type of dispute with your carrier or the WCIRB, a complete webinar was presented by the WCIRB on how to proceed using the earlier link in the article.
One single dispute of “we paid too much premium” or “our X-Mod is too high” without having backing figures remains a bad way to proceed without numbers that back your dispute.
