CA’s WCIRB 8810 Class Code Webinar Covered All Clerical Classifications
Last month, the WCIRB produced a 8810 Class Code Webinar that is worth a look. I know that I am running late on this one. I saved the link to my inbox to cover it when I had the time, which is now. The WCIRB (Workers’ Comp Insurance Rating Bureau) is the rating and advisory organization for all California employers.

I like to use it as a cross-reference for the other rating bureaus, such as NCCI, PCRB, etc. The last WCIRB class code webinar covered on this website was the 8871 Telecommuter webinar.

The WCIRB 8810 Class Code webinar that I viewed can be found here. As the title says, the webinar is worth a view. As mentioned often on this website, one cannot assume that the class code definitions work in another state.

Slightly Different Interpretations
CLERICAL TELECOMMUTER EMPLOYEES – N.O.C. 8871
This classification applies to Clerical Office Employees who work more than 50% of their time at their home or other office space away from any location of their employer.
The telecommuter employees description varies from other rating bureaus.
Not A Disqualifying Job Duty
Entering an area exposed to the operative hazards of the business for ingress or egress purposes or for purposes in connection with clerical activities, such as delivering paychecks
The above passage has been a subject for debate for decades. I have seen this go the other way during physical premium audits. That was a nice clarification.
