DOGE Workers Comp – Will Elon and Vivek Change System?

Will DOGE Workers Comp system changes occur in 2025? Since mid-November, relatives, friends, and Workers Comp professionals have asked me a few questions about this subject. Let us look at what changes could be upcoming and my opinion in the below Bottom Line section.

A comment should be made here that this is not a political article.  I have strived to make sure the website remains a place for Workers Comp research free of political opinions as much as possible.

24-Hour Healthcare Coverage

One of the first articles to appear on this website was about workers comp switching to a 24-hour healthcare system – including on-the-job injuries.

Many articles have covered the federalization of workers’ compensation and how to prepare for it.

With our current healthcare system under the microscope, could DOGE recommend a change to the system?  As I have written many times in the past, 24-hour healthcare coverage including industrial accidents would only require a few small steps to replace or at least heavily change the current Workers Comp system.

I researched any mention of DOGE Workers Comp in Google and Bing searches.  The only related items found concerned federal employees returning to the office.  Many commercial ads were listed for insurance or attorneys.

Preparation – Just in Case

Preparing for a DOGE workers comp system change would be the best strategy.  If one wants to see how much has changed during and after the pandemic, think of how many claims workers now work from home.   My prep recommendations for any changes are:

  • Obtain an insurance-related certification such as AIC, ARM, or CPCU.  Get ahead of the competition.
  • Look to work in other insurance lines such as general liability, auto liability, or even health insurance.
  • Foster great relationships with co-workers, insureds, agents, vendors, and everyone that you come across in your daily work routines.  Please and thank you still work magic.  Check out the prior link as the article generated so many emails to me when I wrote it a decade ago.

Bottom Line on DOGE Workers Comp

In my humble opinion, any DOGE workers comp recommendations would not be from a direct effect. Workers Comp remains a state-sponsored system.  Even the Nixon Administration realized the system was best left for the states to administer after studying the system.

I have written articles over the years (since 2007) on getting ready for changes.  Sitting behind a desk or in front of your laptop for home workers and thinking that things will never change will not work.  Were you doing the same type of job the same way over the last one or two decades?  Preparation always wins.
