California’s WCIRB 8810 Class Code Webinar – Who’s Your Admin Assistant?
Yesterday, I watched a great 8810 Class Code webinar. California’s WCIRB (Workers Comp Insurance Rating Bureau) once again provided an informative webinar on one of the questions on classification codes that we receive very often.

Even if you do not have California workers comp interests, the similarities between these class codes and the other rating bureaus (NCCI, NCRB, PCRB, etc.) still make it worth a look.
WCIRB covered the below slide on the type of classification questions it receives yearly. As expected, the 8810 class code questions almost doubled the other class codes.

CLERICAL TELECOMMUTER EMPLOYEES – N.O.C. 8871
This classification applies to Clerical Office Employees who work more than 50% of their time at their home or other office space away from any location of their employer.
Assignment of this classification is subject to the Standard Exceptions rule. See Part 3, Section III, Rule 4, Standard Exceptions, of the USRP

Classification 8742, Salespersons – Outside
However, if the Outside Salesperson is also exposed to any operative hazard of the business, then the entire payroll is assigned to the highest-rated classification of work to which the employee is so exposed.
Engaged in:
Sales or collection away from the premises of the employer
Public relations work
Outside sales for some portion of their time and clerical office duties for the rest of their time
