Repetitive Task Elimination
One common theme with claim departments involves an adjuster or admin assistant spending an excessive amount of time on tasks that should be handled by claims tech or AI.
Looking at the below chart from the study and presentation, the top two concerns cover the most time-consuming tasks that lower claim staff productivity.
Many times I have seen an excellent claims workflow plan that suffered due to the technology in place.
Important 2024 Workers Comp Benchmarking Report Development
Pay and benefits always rank at the top of any employee survey. However, due to the pandemic, many claim workers prefer working remotely, even though claims management ranked that aspect as less important.
From the below rankings, claim departments may need to rethink the “move back to the office trend.”. The work-from-home option ranking at or above the salary/benefits level says so much in a few words.
Many claims adjusters still work from home and have since 2010. I think the normal “in-office” claims department structure may end up in the rearview mirror.
