Staci Meyer Named New Industrial Commission Chairwoman

Governor Pat McCrory very recently appointed Staci Meyer as Chairwoman of the NC Industrial Commission.  She replaces Pamela T Young, who resigned in January of this year.

A short bio on Chairwoman Meyer:

She earned an undergraduate degree at Clemson University in 1983 and a J.D. degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 1990.

Her previous work experience includes:

  • Acting Secretary for the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources
  • Chief Deputy Secretary and General Counsel for the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources
  • Special Deputy Attorney General for the North Carolina Department of Justice
  • Research Assistant for the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Wake County Bar Association, and Tenth Judicial District Bar.

As a side note, The Senate passed a bill recently would dismiss all Industrial Commission members and let McCrory make his own picks. The Governor seems to have made his first choice. Hopefully, one of the first items on her agenda should be making sure that ALL employers that are required to have Workers Comp insurance by paring down the 30,000 + that currently have no coverage.
